Finchampstead Parish Council has enhanced the facilities at the Finchampstead Baptist Centre with a new state-of-the-art outdoor gym—creating an inclusive space for residents of all ages to stay active all year round.
Finchampstead Parish Council aimed to create an inclusive outdoor gym that could be enjoyed by the whole community, all year round. The chosen location—at the heart of the grounds between a café, play park, and multi-use games area—needed to integrate seamlessly with its surroundings while providing a welcoming and accessible fitness space for users of all abilities.
Working in partnership with Fresh Air Fitness, the Parish selected the popular Parks Bumper Package, enhanced with Chin-Up Bars for added challenge and T’ai Chi Spinners for flexibility and mobility training.
To ensure long-term durability and accessibility, robust groundworks were completed, including a compacted stone base and a red/brown rubber mulch surface. This not only provides year-round usability but also complements the natural setting. The gym features nine pieces of equipment accommodating up to 16 users at once, including:

A BS:EN16630-compliant facilities sign was also installed to ensure full adherence to UK outdoor gym safety standards.
The result is a versatile, 16-user outdoor gym that truly offers something for everyone—from beginners to advanced users.
The equipment range supports full-body workouts, strength building, and cardiovascular fitness, while the accessible design ensures inclusivity for all ages and abilities, including wheelchair users.
The natural-look surfacing blends beautifully with the environment and remains safe and usable in all weather conditions. The new facility provides a modern, compliant, and community-focused space that promotes health, wellbeing, and social connection.
To celebrate the opening, Fresh Air Fitness hosted a live demonstration session one Saturday morning. The event showcased how to use the equipment safely and effectively, inspiring residents to get active and make the most of their new community gym.
