Grindleton Outdoor Gym Project

COUNCILS

A brand-new Fresh Air Fitness outdoor gym has been installed at Grindleton Recreation Ground, creating an exciting new fitness space for the local community to enjoy.

Grindleton Outdoor Gym Project - Open Day

The Background

Managed by Grindleton Recreation Ground Charity, a friends’ group of the park, Grindleton Recreation Ground is an important community space for local residents.

The charity secured funding from Ribble Valley Borough Council and the Lancashire Environmental Fund in order to commission Fresh Air Fitness to design, build and install one of our cutting edge, outdoor gyms.

The new facility needed to offer a free-to-use fitness space for the whole community, be available year-round and had to be focused on encouraging local residents to be more active outdoors.

The Challenge

The project vision was based on developing a substantial, versatile outdoor gym facility that could meet the needs of the local community while making effective use of the available space.

Creating an engaging fitness destination for a wide range of users was an important consideration, with the new facility having to offer a varied selection of equipment which would be easy to use, provide a full body workout and be built to last!

The Solution

Fresh Air Fitness supplied and installed a Parks Bumper Package, together with an Elliptical Cross Trainer and Twist & Step, creating a comprehensive new outdoor gym for Grindleton.

The gym was installed with mulch surfacing, providing a practical and natural-looking finish that complements the surrounding recreation ground.

The new outdoor gym gives the community access to a varied range of equipment, helping users to incorporate cardio, strength, functional fitness and movement into their workouts.

The facility is completely free to use all year round, providing an accessible way for local residents to exercise outdoors and make the most of their community green space.

Launch Day!

To celebrate the new facility, Grindleton Recreation Friends Group hosted a fantastic Launch Day in August.

The event attracted a very enthusiastic turnout, with visitors enjoying live equipment demonstrations and getting the chance to be among the first members of the community to try out the new gym.

The launch provided a great opportunity for local residents to discover the equipment and see first-hand how the new outdoor gym can support an active and healthy lifestyle.
