Fresh Air Fitness has been awarded a second contract by Nottingham City Council to deliver a new outdoor gym, this time at Bilborough Park, following a competitive tender and public consultation.
Nottingham City Council secured funding from the UK Government to install a brand-new outdoor gym facility at Bilborough Park.
The initiative was part of a wider goal with a mission to improve community health and make physical activity more accessible to everyone. Following the successful installation of Fresh Air Fitness equipment at another of the councils' parks, Robin Hood, the council chose to invest further.
Once funding was applied for and secured, and following a rigorous tender process which included public consultation, Fresh Air Fitness was chosen to be their expert gym provider.
The challenge was to create a free, accessible outdoor gym which offered a full-body workout experience, whilst still catering to different fitness levels and abilities.
The equipment also needed to have some resistance-based pieces, and the Fresh Air Fitness Resistance Range was the ideal choice as each piece comes with an easy to use, manual dial which allows the user to adjust the challenge of their exercise.
It was very important that the outdoor gym solution was both functional and aesthetically pleasing for a natural environment and it was key that the equipment be robust enough for consistent and long-term usage.
With these challenges in mind, Fresh Air Fitness worked alongside Nottingham City Council in order to select the most appropriate pieces that would meet all objectives.
The surfacing used on the gym was wet pour, meaning it would withstand all-weather conditions, and the equipment also included a bespoke sign which explained its use to the general public who would be enjoying the outdoor gym.
The final outdoor gym solution included:

• Double Air Walker
• Elliptical Cross Trainer
• Accessible Arm and Pedal Bike
• Bench Press
• Leg Press
After the installation was complete, Fresh Air Fitness were proud to support the council at a launch event, where the team carried out live demonstrations and celebrated the new outdoor equipment with the public.
