Fresh Air Fitness was commissioned to install a state of the art outdoor gym at the NHS Sandwell setting.
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is one of the largest National Health Service teaching Trusts in England and comprises Sandwell General Hospital in West Bromwich, City Hospital, Birmingham and Rowley Regis Hospital.
As part of its staff wellness initiative, the Trust was looking to provide a fitness solution primarily aimed at staff and funded by charitable donations.
The exercise facility was envisaged as being based at the Birmingham City Hospital near to the main Treatment centre. Following our track record with other projects at NHS trusts and considering all of the fantastic benefits an outdoor gym has to offer, Fresh Air Fitness was selected as the chosen supplier.
Fresh Air Fitness was tasked with installing a range of equipment which could be used by all staff with any level of fitness and it had to offer a full breadth of exercise options from cardio and strength to balance and flexibility.
Surfacing was important to ensure that the outdoor gym could be used all year round regardless of the weather conditions.
Clear instructions for use with workout suggestions were also a pre-requisite.
The outdoor gym project was led step-by-step from the design and manufacture all the way to installation by our experienced, Fresh Air Fitness team and the final solution comprised of a 7 piece, 13 user outdoor gym.
The chosen high quality, surfacing solution had a compacted stone base with a rubber mulch laid on top to create an all-weather, anti-slip, durable surface. The gym zone was completed with steel bow top fencing and two gates to provide easy access to the gym.
To launch the state-of-the-art facility, the Fresh Air Fitness team arranged an induction session with staff providing helpful suggestions and ideas on how to exercise and train all muscle groups using the brand new outdoor gym equipment.
