EDUCATION - SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Haybrook College Trust is an Alternative Provision Academy that includes a special school called Millside School, 4 unique programmes at KS4, as well as a range of ‘revolving door’ provisions at KS3/KS4 that have proven to be highly successful in supporting young people to maintain their mainstream school place or return to another mainstream school.
As part of an exciting school expansion, Haybrook College worked with Fresh Air Fitness to create a new 28-user outdoor gym facility.
The project formed part of the development of a new wing, allowing the school to accommodate more pupils, while providing additional opportunities for outdoor physical activity and wellbeing.
Haybrook College is committed to providing a supportive and personalised learning environment for its pupils.
With the school expanding and a new wing being developed, there was an opportunity to enhance the outdoor facilities and create a dedicated space where pupils could exercise, stay active and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors.
As the UK’s leading outdoor gym specialist, 100% dedicated to the design and development or outdoor gym solutions, Fresh Air Fitness was commissioned to advise, design and install a varied outdoor gym that would provide a range of exercise options suitable for the school’s pupils.
The outdoor gym installation was taking place alongside a major building development, meaning careful planning and coordination were required to ensure the project could be completed safely and efficiently.
Fresh Air Fitness worked closely with the contractors throughout the project to coordinate the installation around the ongoing construction works. While ensuring that all relevant health and safety requirements were met throughout the process.
Fresh Air Fitness supplied and installed a 28-user outdoor gym featuring a diverse range of equipment, including a 20-user award-winning, Big Rig, an Air Skier, Double Air Walker, Arm and Pedal Bike, Recumbent Bike, Elliptical Cross Trainer and Self-Weighted Rower.
The combination of equipment provided pupils with a variety of ways to exercise, helping to support cardiovascular fitness, strength, mobility and general physical wellbeing.
As part of the project, Fresh Air Fitness also completed the required groundworks and part surfacing, using mulch to create an all-weather, outdoor gym area.
The completed outdoor gym has given Haybrook College a dedicated 28-user fitness facility that can be used by pupils as part of their wider physical activity and wellbeing provision.
With a broad range of equipment available, the outdoor gym offers an engaging and accessible environment where pupils of all abilities can socialise, develop their fitness and enjoy all of the many benefits of exercising outdoors.
“We are incredibly proud to have been part of the Haybrook College expansion project and to have helped create a fantastic new outdoor space for its pupils. The finished outdoor gym has been exceptionally well received, providing a vibrant and engaging environment where young people can be active, socialise and enjoy the many benefits of exercising outdoors. It was a pleasure to work alongside the Haybrook College team and contractors, and we’re delighted to see the facility already making such a positive contribution to the school and its pupils’ health and wellbeing.”
