EDUCATION - SECONDARY SCHOOLS
A 5-piece, 9 user station outdoor gym, designed using pieces from our key stage 3 and 4 range, suitable for children 11 years to adults. Cardio & strength building equipment for raising the heart rate, getting the whole body working, burning fat and toning the body.
Eggar’s Secondary School, Alton, Hampshire is itself a smaller school, with big ambitions. Already ‘Outstanding’ in all categories, they wanted to create an outdoor dining and social area that could be used all year round by their own pupils and those from neighbouring schools. “Our close links to local primary schools and Treloar College, who regularly come to our site for curriculum-enriching lessons and activities, prompted us to think about a new outdoor dining and social area that could be used all year round.” Sarah McKenzie, Eggar’s community liaison officer Having seen the support available to help secure funding for the project and additional support for teachers in planning PE lessons using the equipment, Eggar’s chose to work with Fresh Air Fitness.
In order for the fitness trail to come to fruition, the project needed to be fully funded. Fresh Air Fitness provided a funding expert to help secure an amazing £8,000.00. Once funding was secured, the planning stage began. The outdoor gym needed to meet the needs of the children at the school and their teachers. The gym also needed to be useable by the local college and therefore safe for ages ranging from 11-18.
A 5-piece outdoor gym, designed using pieces from our key stage 3 & 4 range, suitable for children 11 years to adults. This gym included 3 pieces of cardio equipment; the Air Skier, Double Air Walker and Arm & Pedal Bike, all great for raising the heart rate, getting the whole body working, burning fat and toning the body. For strength building the gym also included a Seated Leg Press, ideal for building muscle and tone along the whole legs and a Combination Pull Down and Chest Press, for building muscle and tone in the arms, back and chest.
Durable and easy to use, the 5 different pieces of gym equipment sit in a specially prepared area just outside the school’s tennis courts. There is one single station and four double stations, meaning 9 students can work out at any one time.
The equipment has already been a big hit before, during and after PE lessons. In fact, two students were recently seen exercising their bodies and brains at their same time!
