From cross trainers to air skiers, at Fresh Air Fitness we take the indoor gym, outdoors, enhancing every session with the restorative effects of natural daylight and fresh air, whilst doing our bit to Get Britain Fitter!

Our cardio range consists of 21 pieces of fantastic outdoor gym equipment and today, we will be shining a spotlight on the Air Skier.

We will be focusing on the myriad of benefits this type of exercise has on the mind and body, giving you a simple workout plan using this brilliant piece of outdoor gym equipment and highlighting the technical and user specifications too.

Body Benefits

Using the Fresh Air Fitness Air Skier helps to tone the waist, hips and thighs, strengthening muscles and improving general cardiovascular fitness, balance and co-ordination.

The Air Skier is a unique piece of outdoor gym equipment which uses a movement similar to when you ski. It offers a low impact workout with no strain on the joints. It also makes a great warm-up option.

Using this piece of exercise equipment shouldn't be underestimated - the average calories burnt skiing is between 300 and 600 calories per hour!

Toning

And not only will you burn calories, the Air Skier is great for toning your core and lower body.

Legs, particularly the thigh muscles, will benefit as you power the machine to move your body from side to side. The core is also engaged and working hard as a stabiliser to balance and steady your body while you are swinging.

The glutes are one of the strongest muscles in the human body and they are also heavily involved as they support the core to stabililse the body and the thighs to push your legs side to side as you 'ski'.

Coordination & Balance

Good coordination and balance are learnable skills which not only improve daily life but also improve your sporting ability.

Coordination and balance help you to use different parts of the body together smoothly and efficiently and use a part of the brain known as the cerebellum. It is linked with the ability to think and how fast you can process information.

Nearly any activity that keeps you moving, can help you maintain good balance and coordination, and the Air Skier is particularly good, as you need to use your balance, coordination and strength to power the pendulum motion and keep it going.

Mood & Mind

Exercise increases your body’s natural level of endorphins, which are powerful mood lifters.

As well as improving your mood, exercise works on maintaining healthy sleep patterns and a good night’s sleep helps our bodies to rest, regenerate and protects the brain from damage.

All cardiovascular exercise, which creates a heart-pumping type activity is an instant mood booster and has been shown to be as effective as prescription antidepressant medicine.

Being a double piece, 2 people can use the Air Skier at once, making it perfect for those wanting to exercise with friends.
