National Lottery Doubles Funding for Community Projects from November 2023

The National Lottery Awards for All is increasing its funding from a maximum of £10,000 to £20,000 from 15 November 2023.

Community using Fresh Air Fitness Outdoor Gym

20th November 2023

This will mean that eligible voluntary or community organisations can apply for a much larger amount of funding to improve provisions and services for the communities they serve.

Who can apply for National Lottery Awards For All funding?

You can apply if your organisation is one of the following:

  • constituted voluntary or community organisation
  • constituted group or club
  • registered charity
  • charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
  • not-for-profit company
  • community interest company (CIC)
  • school (as long as your project benefits and involves the communities around the school)
  • statutory body (including local authorities, town, parish and community council)
  • community benefit society.

With full detail available at www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk it states that it is more likely to fund groups with smaller incomes and also notes that due to high demand, organisations which have a large annual turnover may not be able to secure funding.

Eligible Projects

You can apply for funding if your project does at least one of these things:

  • brings people together to build strong relationships in and across communities
  • improves the places and spaces that matter to communities
  • helps more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage
  • supports people, communities and organisations facing more demands

If your project focuses on Sport, the Arts or Heritage

When the fund assesses sports, the arts and heritage projects, they are particularly interested in projects where the main mission is to strengthen your community in some way.

Using the National Lottery Awards For All funding for outdoor gym equipment

With the example of funding an outdoor gym, this goes above and beyond simply providing a fitness facility. It also looks at how offering a ‘free’ exercise provision helps to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, or how creating a central exercise hub brings communities together, thus reducing social isolation. Or how offering teenagers a place to gather and keep fit actively reduces anti-social behaviour.

If you are a local charity or volunteer group looking to fund the installation of outdoor gym equipment, your local authority or Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) may be able to offer you support and advice on writing your application. Equally at Fresh Air Fitness, we have a team of experts who can support your project with the funding process. Often, we can help you to achieve part funding or even full funding of your outdoor gym. Any funding you receive goes in full into your outdoor gym project. You can reach our friendly and professional, Fresh Air Fitness team on 01483 608 860.
